For Sheri and her love of Poppies

This is a picture I took in Victoria in 2005. I'm posting it for Sheri Burhoe - New Brunswick artist whose work is textural, evocative and cheerful all at once. She has a thing about poppies which I understand. They are audacious and brazen and cheeky - everything I wish I could be. We even had a Newfie dog named Poppy when I was growing up because she was born on Rememberance. My poppy pin is still on my jacket. They are on my list of things to plant this summer in my first garden that is *my own*. Fingers crossed that I make some extra money so that I can have one of her Poppy paintings.
