Homemade Pasta!

So I got my pasta machine out and finally made some homemade pasta. Trevor and I made filled ravioli and when I realized there was still a quarter of the dough remaining, so I made some fettucine and dried it. The ravioli were yummy with an artichoke filling. This weekend I will cook the dried noodles and see how it goes. Next I want to make lemon pasta!

Royal Icing Flowers

I am getting desperate for signs of Spring, although I know realisticaly I can't expect any for another month of two. Spring comes late in Nova Scotia, but his year the snow started so early that it feels like it's been winter forever. So, here are some cheery pastel icing flowers that just look to me like Easter and mild weather

My Valentine is such a Sweetie

My husband gave me the simplest yet best Valentine this year:

made me cry! Every year he says he is plagued by doubt and guilt for what to do for me for Valentines Day. Every year I tell him the same thing: I am happier with a simple expression of your affection for me than something expensive (however nice) that we really can't afford. Yeah, maybe candlelight dinners and fancy lingerie and are nice, but I'll take this message over those any day!

Even today his roses are looking lovely. I am so lucky to have this wonderful guy for my husband (cue the gushy music). He even brought me this Lindt bunny back from the store yesterday - just because!

French Macaroons

Oh boy these are so yummy. The recipe says they'll keep in the fridge for three days, but they really are better fresh.

Gorgeous Cake

One of my Wilton Course Two students, Sarah, made this stunning cake inspired by Peggy Porschens Pretty Party Cakes. Isn't it impressive? A great example of what you can do with the flowers you learn to make in Course Two.
