Cake Decorating is fun

I am totally into this class - it is really basic, but I don't care. All the women in it are super friendly and easy going. It is hard on the hand though. I am sad that I will have to wait until the fall to take courses 2-4. The store doesn't hold them in the summer-time. I figure with the wedding, I won't have time to think about taking a class. I am toying with the idea of making Trevor a Groom's cake. He won't let me make my wedding cake which I totally understand....but a Groom's cake is usually smaller and less fussy so I think I might have to try!

Sunday Dinner

We had to have something really light as we both have been eating terribly lately. The soup is something I've always called 'green soup' but this time I put red pepper in. It's just broth with celery, spinach, sweet pepper and at the last minute I throw in some tortellini. These particular ones weren't very good. Chicken and orange. I miss the broccoli and white cheddar, Olivieri doesn't seem to make those any more. As a compromise I think I'll stick to the five cheese medallions. Of course, I could get fancy and make my own!
The salad? Mesclun greens with shredded carrot, homemade dressing, crushed pita chips, marinated artichokes and toasted pinenuts. Oh boy it was good and even better? Trevor ate dandelion greens and liked them!

New Jewellery

I will be using a lot more beads in the next little while as I am running out of silver and really need to thin out my stash.

There is a spending moratorium in effect in this pre-wedding household!

It was really nice to get away to Stellarton, even if it was for just one day. Here is the cake the had Hudson going snaky.......
A traditional carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Hudson kept calling it an 'easter birthday cake'!!

Who's Money Is It?

Wedding Class at St. Brendan's
Well - I guess I could say it was interesting and at least I was spending time with Trevor on a Saturday instead of working! I expected a certain amount of church/God talk, and there was very little at first. The Catholic Padre who was speaking about spirituality even kept his talk vague until the the end. The part of the day that freaked me out was the financial planning section. Here, Trevor and I hoped to get some good advice about how to save money/buy a house/build credit - that sort of stuff. But, Oh no.........."who's money is it? It's God's money!" This was not the section of the class I was prepared to listen to some quack go on about how God wants us to give in order to receive. Yeeah.
The other thing I noted: We were the only couple who went to the North End Diner which is right across the street from the Base. Every single other couple drove off and came back with fast food wrappers: Tim Hortons and Burger King. I suppose we really are city people.

todays jewellery

A bracelet for summer and a pair of earrings that I am not too sure about. The bracelet has a cool combination that I don't use: pinks, orange and yellow. It was dreadfully rainy and dull this morning so I felt like I needed a visual pick-me-up. The earrings - meh. I made the findings ages ago and nothing seems exactly right. I was hoping that this combination of beads, being a little fancier looking would balance out the finding. I shall have to wear them to see.
Today is one of those days where I get off to a smashing start, productive and energized and then I realize I have to get ready for work......................................................

Todays Earrings

Two pairs of earrings today - I hope they are nice and fresh for Spring. I've kept the silver super sparkly for a light, airy look.

Sunday Night Dinner

We had Shannon, Kim & Cassie over for dinner tonight as a ThankYou to Kim for doing our taxes. Haven't had a dinner party in ages. I think it went well and ther are just enough noodles left over for my lunch tomorrow! The food was Asian inspried but random and mixed. I tried a new recipe for the Vietnamese Lemongrass Pork Lettuce Wraps. The marinade was awesome. My cold salad rolls were good too and I must remember that they are better with fresh mint.

Only in Canada eh?

I loved this shot from the Chronicle Herald
